Mystic Chambers

Mystic Chambers
This piece is designed with a wonderful Lightning Whelk shell that I found off the Gulf Coast in Navarre Beach, Florida. I love how it has broken in half and eroded perfectly to show the inner chambers! I wove 20 gauge salvaged, electrical copper wire using a basket weave called "looping" while attaching two aqua glass beaded loops. The neck cord is a celtic design. A 5 strand braid of forest green, faux leather which slides through the beaded loops of the shell pendant (see Details 4+ 5). The back attachment is a lovely brown cowrie set on a wooden base that I salvaged from a thrift store find. This slides through a self loop of the braided strands, secured with craft wire, leaving a lovely fringe of the knotted strands that add an extra "umph" to this design. (see detail 6).
